The antioxidant that makes vitamin C last
On its own, ferulic acid is a fairly modest antioxidant. Its real job is chaperone: added to a vitamin C and E serum at the right pH, it slows the rate at which ascorbic acid oxidizes and meaningfully extends the pair's antioxidant capacity. That research came out of Duke University and became the backbone of the SkinCeuticals antioxidant range — C E Ferulic, Phloretin CF, Silymarin CF and AOX+ Eye Gel are all built on it. It also appears outside that line in Epicutis Hyvia Crème.
Does ferulic acid do anything on its own?
