How to Use

Step 1: Apply immediately after your procedure to cool and moisturize the skin, or as your provider directs.
Step 2: Smooth an even layer over the treated area with clean hands.
Step 3: Reapply as directed by your physician or provider during recovery.
Step 4: Once your provider clears it, follow with a gentle moisturizer and, in the morning, a mineral sunscreen.

Caution: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Discontinue use if irritation worsens. Do not use if you are allergic to pineapple or kiwi. After professional treatments, follow your provider's aftercare instructions.

How is Enzyme HydroGel different from EltaMD Laser Balm?

Enzyme HydroGel is a water-based, cooling gel with enzymes and hyaluronic acid, made to hydrate and calm skin after non-ablative and mildly ablative procedures. Laser Balm is a petrolatum skin protectant that seals moisture in and shields compromised skin. Think of the gel as the cool-down step and the balm as the protective seal. Your provider will tell you which one, or which order, suits your treatment.

Which treatments is it for?

EltaMD designed it for use after non-ablative and mildly ablative procedures, which covers many in-office laser and light treatments. It isn't meant for deep ablative resurfacing, where your provider will give you a specific aftercare plan. Always follow your provider's instructions on what to apply and when.

Will it help with redness and itching?

EltaMD says the gel reduces the look of redness and helps ease post-procedure itch and irritation, and the hyaluronic acid base feels cool on warm skin. Redness that gets worse, blistering, swelling or any sign of infection is a reason to call your provider rather than reapply.

Is it OK for oily or acne-prone skin?

Yes. EltaMD lists it as oil-free and noncomedogenic, and the light gel texture suits oily and combination skin. If your skin runs dry, your provider may have you follow it with a richer moisturizer once the skin has calmed.

Can I use it if I'm allergic to pineapple or kiwi?

Bromelain comes from pineapple, and the formula also contains kiwi fruit extract. If you have a known allergy to either fruit, skip it and ask your provider for an alternative. Even without an allergy, a patch test on untreated skin before your appointment is a good idea.

How long does a tube last?

The 3 oz tube covers the face many times over. Most clients use it for the first several days after a treatment and still have plenty left for their next session, depending on the size of the treated area and how often their provider has them reapply.
