How to Use

Step 1: Apply liberally to the lips 15 minutes before sun exposure.
Step 2: Wear it alone or under lipstick or gloss.
Step 3: Reapply after 40 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying, and at least every 2 hours.
Step 4: Reapply after eating or drinking.

Sun Protection Measures: Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with a broad-spectrum SPF of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures including: limit time in the sun, especially from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; wear long-sleeve shirts, pants, hats and sunglasses. Children under 6 months: ask a doctor.

How is this different from EltaMD UV Lip Balm SPF 36?

UV Lip Balm SPF 36 pairs zinc oxide with octinoxate, a chemical filter. The Peptide Lip Balm is 100% mineral with 12.2% zinc oxide and SPF 40, and adds a 3% peptide blend and a 1% hyaluronic acid complex to smooth and hydrate lips. Choose it if you want mineral-only protection with treatment benefits.

Will it leave a white cast on my lips?

It shouldn't. EltaMD uses a transparent zinc oxide, and in its 2-week consumer study of 180 people, 91% agreed it leaves zero white cast on lips. It goes on clear, so it works on every lip color.

What do the peptides do?

The 3% peptide blend (tripeptide-1 and palmitoyl tripeptide-38) helps lips look plumper and smoother, according to EltaMD. Peptide results are gradual and cosmetic, so use it daily for several weeks; it is not a substitute for lip filler.

How often should I reapply?

Apply it 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapply at least every 2 hours, after 40 minutes of swimming or sweating, and immediately after towel drying. Because eating, drinking and wiping remove lip products, reapply after meals too.

Can I wear it under lipstick?

Yes. It has a transparent, non-greasy finish, so you can wear it alone or let it set for a minute and layer lipstick or gloss on top. Reapply the balm when you reapply your lip color.
