EltaMD UV Restore Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 is a 100% mineral sunscreen made for skin that already carries sun damage. Alongside 15% zinc oxide and 2% titanium dioxide, it pairs ginger root extract and saccharide isomerate with vitamins C and E to help improve smoothness, soften the look of dark spots, and reduce the appearance of fine lines — while defending against UV, infrared, and high-energy visible light.

How to Use

Step 1: Complete your morning routine, letting serums and moisturizer absorb fully.
Step 2: Apply UV Restore liberally to the face and neck 15 minutes before sun exposure. Use roughly a nickel-sized amount for the face alone.
Step 3: Reapply at least every 2 hours, and more often with extended time outdoors.
Step 4: Switch to a water-resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating.

Sun protection measures: spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with a broad spectrum SPF of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures, including limiting time in the sun between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and wearing long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats and sunglasses. For external use only. Do not use on damaged or broken skin. Stop use and ask a doctor if rash occurs. Keep out of reach of children.

How is UV Restore different from UV Clear?

UV Clear is built for blemish-prone and sensitive skin. UV Restore is 100% mineral and is aimed squarely at skin that already carries visible sun damage, using ginger root extract, saccharide isomerate and vitamins C and E to work on the look of tone, texture and dark spots while it protects.

Will a 100% mineral formula leave a white cast?

The untinted version can leave a light cast on deeper skin tones, as any zinc-based sunscreen can. Squalane keeps the finish comfortable rather than chalky, but if you want a sunscreen that disappears completely and evens tone on contact, choose UV Restore Tinted instead.

Is it suitable after a peel, laser or microneedling?

Mineral-only formulas are generally the preferred choice once your provider clears you to resume sun protection, because there are no chemical filters to sting freshly treated skin. Always follow the specific post-care instructions you were given, and keep treated areas out of direct sun regardless of what you are wearing.
