How to Use

Step 1: Shake the vial well.
Step 2: Thoroughly cleanse the area of application and pat dry.
Step 3: Apply a layer of peel solution with gauze, avoiding the eye area.
Step 4: Wait about 10–15 minutes, then rinse well with cold water.
Step 5: Use once a week. Follow with a gentle moisturizer and wear broad-spectrum sunscreen daily.

Caution: For external use only. Do not use if you are pregnant or nursing; have active cold sores, herpes simplex or warts in the area; have wounded, sunburned or very sensitive skin in the area; have taken oral isotretinoin within the past 12 months; have dermatitis or another inflammatory skin condition in the area; or are allergic to salicylates. Avoid prescription retinoids, retinol, other acids or chemical exfoliants, and benzoyl peroxide, sulfur or other drying products for at least 3 days before and after the peel, and avoid laser hair removal, waxing, depilatory creams and electrolysis on the area for 5–7 days before and after. If you have recently had a medical aesthetic facial treatment such as laser or microdermabrasion, wait 5–7 days or ask your physician first. Do not use on children or infants. Consult a physician to determine whether an AHA/BHA peel is right for you. Alpha hydroxy acids may increase sun sensitivity; use sunscreen and limit sun exposure.

How is Blue Resurface different from Blue Brilliance?

They're Obagi's two at-home Blue peels. Blue Resurface is Peel Level 1: 30% mandelic acid with 1% salicylic acid, made for sensitive, dry or easily irritated skin and anyone new to peels, with mild concerns like uneven tone and texture, and used once a week. Blue Brilliance is Peel Level 2: 8% salicylic acid with glycolic and lactic acids for normal, combination and oily skin with blemishes, enlarged-looking pores or rough texture, used every two weeks. Start here if you've never had a peel or your skin is reactive.

How often should I use it?

Once a week, according to Obagi's peel guide. Each box holds four vials of 0.27 fl oz / 8 mL. Shake the vial well before each use and follow the enclosed instructions.

Is it really OK for sensitive skin?

It's the Blue peel built for it. Obagi designed this new formula for minimal irritation, it's dermatologically tested, and in Obagi's clinical test a majority agreed they did not experience unacceptable irritation. It's still an acid peel, so expect some tingling, and don't use it on broken, sunburned or very reactive areas or on dermatitis.

What should I stop before and after a peel?

Stop prescription retinoids, retinol, other acids or exfoliants, and benzoyl peroxide, sulfur or other drying products for at least 3 days before and after. Skip laser hair removal, waxing, depilatory creams and electrolysis on the area for 5–7 days before and after, and wait 5–7 days after a medical aesthetic facial treatment such as laser or microdermabrasion.
