Tocopheryl acetate: the stable form of vitamin E
Tocopheryl acetate is vitamin E with an acetate group attached, and that small change makes it far more shelf-stable than pure tocopherol — stable enough for formulators to include without the product oxidizing on the shelf. On skin it conditions, softens the look of dryness, and supports other antioxidants, which is the reason vitamin C serums so often list a vitamin E alongside. It appears in Revision Skincare C+ Correcting Complex, DEJ Face Cream, DEJ Night Cream, Youthful Lip Replenisher and Alastin HydraTint Pro Mineral SPF 36. Revision Skincare uses it most widely of the lines we carry.
Is tocopheryl acetate the same as vitamin E oil?
Related, but not identical. Vitamin E oil is usually raw tocopherol, which oxidizes quickly; tocopheryl acetate is the stabilized ester used in finished cosmetic formulas.
