How to Use

Step 1: Gently cleanse with a mild cleanser such as Ultra Calm Cleansing Cream and pat skin dry.
Step 2: Apply a thin layer of balm to clean skin, focusing on dry, compromised or treated areas.
Step 3: Reapply as needed to keep skin comfortable and protected.
Step 4: During the day, once your provider allows, follow with a mineral sunscreen.
Step 5: After a professional treatment, follow your provider's specific application instructions; frequency and duration vary by treatment.

How is this different from Regenerating Skin Nectar?

Regenerating Skin Nectar is ALASTIN Skincare's TriHex peptide treatment, designed to precondition skin and visibly optimize skin-rejuvenating treatments. Soothe + Protect is the comfort layer: a simple, protective balm with no peptides that hydrates, calms and shields treated skin. If your provider recommends both, apply the nectar first and the balm on top.

When should I start using it after a treatment?

Follow your provider's instructions. How soon, how often and for how long you apply it depends on the treatment you had, so ask us at your appointment. In general, it goes on clean skin as needed, focusing on dry, compromised or treated areas.

Will a petrolatum balm clog my pores?

ALASTIN Skincare reports that the balm passed comedogenicity testing, and it's formulated for oily, combination and dry skin. It does feel rich, so a thin layer is all you need, especially if you're acne-prone.

Does it contain sunscreen?

No. "Protect" refers to the protective, moisture-sealing layer it forms, not sun protection. Treated skin is especially sun-sensitive, so avoid direct sun and, once your provider clears it, use a mineral sunscreen such as ALASTIN SilkSHIELD during the day.

Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

ALASTIN Skincare recommends checking with your health care provider. The ingredient list is short, with no retinoids, exfoliating acids or fragrance listed, but please ask your provider before starting any new product while pregnant or nursing.

How long does a tube last?

It depends on how often and how widely you apply it, which varies by treatment. A thin layer goes a long way, so a 4.0 fl oz (118.3 mL) tube typically covers the recovery period for more than one facial treatment.
