How to Use

Step 1: For best results, apply daily to clean, moist skin.
Step 2: Begin with no more than a pea-size amount on your fingertip; the formula is very concentrated.
Step 3: Apply a thin coat over the skin and allow it to absorb.
Step 4: After two minutes, gently pat off any excess.
Step 5: After a procedure, use it only on intact skin and as your provider directs.

Caution: For external use only. Use only on intact skin; do not apply to open or weeping areas. Avoid contact with eyes. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. After professional treatments, follow your provider's aftercare instructions.

How is Moisture Seal different from EltaMD Laser Balm?

Both are simple, waterless petrolatum occlusives. Laser Balm is an over-the-counter skin protectant (Petrolatum 60%, with microcrystalline wax and paraffin) labeled to protect chapped or cracked skin and minor cuts, scrapes and burns. Moisture Seal is a cosmetic intense moisturizer of petrolatum and paraffin that EltaMD positions for dry, flaky, intact skin after procedures and for very dry skin day to day. Your provider will tell you which fits each stage of your recovery.

When can I start using it after a procedure?

Once your skin is intact, meaning any open or weeping areas have closed, and your provider says it's time. EltaMD designed it to soothe dry, flaky, intact skin after cosmetic or medical treatments. Until then, follow your aftercare instructions.

Why do I only need a pea-size amount?

Moisture Seal is very concentrated. EltaMD recommends starting with no more than a pea-size amount on your fingertip, applying a thin coat to clean, moist skin, then gently patting off the excess after two minutes. Using more just leaves skin greasy.

Will it clog pores or irritate sensitive skin?

EltaMD lists it as noncomedogenic and hypoallergenic, and it's free of water, preservatives, fragrance, dyes and parabens, so there's very little in it to react to. If you're acne-prone, keep it to the areas that truly need it.

Can I use it on my body?

Yes. It works anywhere skin is very dry or flaky, such as hands, elbows, knees and heels, and on treated areas of the body once they're intact and your provider has cleared it.

How long does a tube last?

Because you only need a pea-size amount at a time, the 2.8 oz tube goes a long way: typically two to three months of daily facial use, and less if you also use it on larger areas of the body.
