How to Use

Step 1: With dry hands, apply a moderate amount to dry skin.
Step 2: Massage gently and evenly over the face and neck. The gel melts into an oil that dissolves sunscreen, long-wear makeup and daily pollution.
Step 3: Add lukewarm water and keep massaging until it turns into a milky emulsion.
Step 4: Rinse thoroughly and gently pat skin dry with a soft towel.
Step 5: If you have oily, combination or acne-prone skin, or wear makeup or sunscreen daily, follow with a water-based cleanser to double cleanse.

Caution: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes; if contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

How is this different from the EltaMD Skin Recovery Amino Acid Foaming Cleanser?

Oil-in-Gel is an oil-based cleanser: it melts water-resistant sunscreen, long-wear makeup and excess oil on dry skin. The Skin Recovery Amino Acid Foaming Cleanser is a gentle, water-based foaming cleanser for sensitive skin. They work well together as a double cleanse: Oil-in-Gel first on dry skin, then the foaming cleanser.

Will an oil cleanser clog my pores or leave a greasy film?

It's formulated to cleanse without clogging pores, and once you add water it turns into a milky emulsion that rinses clean. EltaMD makes it for all skin types, including acne-prone skin. If you're oily or acne-prone, follow it with a water-based cleanser, as EltaMD recommends.

Does it remove waterproof makeup and mineral sunscreen?
