How to Use

Step 1: Thoroughly cleanse and dry the face. Do not apply to wet skin.
Step 2: Following the enclosed instruction guide, apply a first layer of peel solution evenly across the face, avoiding the eye area.
Step 3: If the first layer is tolerable, apply a second layer 30 to 60 seconds later.
Step 4: Leave on for about 10 minutes, then rinse well with cold water and gently pat dry.
Step 5: Repeat once every two weeks for a four-peel series. Follow with a gentle moisturizer and wear broad-spectrum sunscreen daily.

Caution: For external use only. Read the enclosed instruction guide for complete directions and warnings. Do not use if you are pregnant; have active cold sores, herpes simplex or warts in the area; have wounded, sunburned or excessively sensitive skin in the area; have used Accutane within the past 12 months; have dermatitis or any inflammatory skin condition other than mild-to-moderate acne (not cystic or nodular acne); or are allergic to salicylates. Avoid prescription retinoids (including tretinoin), retinol, other acids or chemical exfoliants, and benzoyl peroxide, sulfur or other drying products for at least 3 days before and after the peel, and avoid laser hair removal, waxing, depilatory creams and electrolysis on the area for 5–7 days before and after. If you have recently had a medical aesthetic facial treatment or procedure, wait 5–7 days or ask your physician first. Do not use on children or infants. Consult a physician to determine whether an AHA/BHA peel is right for you. Alpha hydroxy acids may increase sun sensitivity; use sunscreen and limit sun exposure.

How is Blue Brilliance different from Blue Resurface?

They're Obagi's two at-home Blue peels. Blue Resurface is Peel Level 1: 30% mandelic acid with salicylic acid, made for sensitive or easily irritated skin and anyone new to peels, and used once a week. Blue Brilliance is Peel Level 2: 8% salicylic acid with glycolic and lactic acids, made for normal, combination and oily skin with blemishes, enlarged-looking pores or rough texture, and used every two weeks. If you've never had a peel or your skin is reactive, start with Blue Resurface.

How often should I use it?

Once every two weeks, never more often. The box holds four vials for a four-peel series over about eight weeks, which matches the schedule in Obagi's clinical test. Follow the enclosed instruction guide each time.

Will it sting, and will I peel?

Expect tingling or stinging while it's on; for most people it settles within a few minutes. Only apply the second layer if the first is tolerable, and rinse with cold water right away if it feels too intense. Visible flaking varies from person to person, and in Obagi's clinical test 100% agreed no downtime was needed after the full series.

What should I stop before and after a peel?

Stop prescription retinoids such as tretinoin, retinol, other acids or exfoliants, and benzoyl peroxide, sulfur or other drying products for at least 3 days before and after.
