How to Use

Step 1: Cleanse skin.
Step 2: Apply to the face and massage in gentle circular motions, avoiding the eye area.
Step 3: Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry.
Step 4: Follow with the appropriate PCA Skin toner and treatment serums, then a broad-spectrum SPF in the daytime or a moisturizer in the evening.
Step 5: Use morning or evening, one to three times per week, based on skin type and condition.

Caution: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes; if contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Contains an alpha hydroxy acid (mandelic acid) that may increase sun sensitivity, so use a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily. Do not use on broken, sunburned or irritated skin. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

How is this different from Daily Exfoliant?

Daily Exfoliant is a gentle, acid-free exfoliating cleanser you can use every day. Pore Refining Treatment is a stronger weekly treatment that layers physical, enzymatic and cellular exfoliation with oil-absorbing clays. Use it after cleansing, one to three times a week, on the days you want a deeper clean.

How often should I use it?

PCA Skin recommends one to three times per week, morning or evening, based on your skin type and condition. Start with once a week and add a second or third session only if your skin stays comfortable.

Is it okay for sensitive skin?

It's a strong exfoliant designed mainly for oily and combination skin. If your skin is sensitive or rosacea-prone, ask your provider first and patch test. Never use it on sunburned, broken or actively irritated skin.

Can I use it with retinol or peel pads?

Not on the same night. Retinol, peel pads and other acid treatments all exfoliate, and stacking them can over-exfoliate and irritate. Use Pore Refining Treatment on alternate nights, and hold off before and after in-office peels or laser per your provider.

Do I need sunscreen when using it?

Yes. Mandelic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid, and AHAs can increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun. Wear a broad-spectrum SPF every day, and keep it up for at least a week after you stop using the product.

How long does a tube last?

It depends on how often you use it. With a nickel-sized amount one to three times a week, a 2.1 oz tube typically lasts about three to six months.
