How to Use

Step 1: In the evening, cleanse and pat skin dry.
Step 2: Apply a pea-sized amount evenly over the face, avoiding the eyes and lips.
Step 3: Follow with an appropriate moisturizer.
Step 4: Start twice a week, then increase to every other night and then nightly as tolerated.
Step 5: In the morning, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen.

Caution: For external use only. Retinol increases sun sensitivity; use a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily and limit sun exposure. Mild dryness, flaking or redness may occur at first. Not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Avoid contact with eyes. Discontinue use if irritation persists.

How is this different from PCA Skin's Intensive retinol treatments?

It's the gentlest of the four. Retinol Treatment for Sensitive Skin uses 0.1% retinol with calming niacinamide and soothing botanicals, while the Intensive Age Refining, Brightening and Clarity treatments use 0.5% pure retinol for more targeted work on aging, discoloration or breakouts. Many people start here and step up once their skin is comfortable.

Is it a good first retinol?

Yes. PCA Skin designed it as the ideal starting point for anyone new to retinol, especially if your skin is sensitive or prone to redness. Start slowly and build up as your skin adjusts.

Can I use it if I have rosacea or very reactive skin?

It was formulated for sensitive skin and helps reduce redness, but it is still a retinol. If you have rosacea, eczema or very reactive skin, check with your provider first and try it on a small area before using it on your whole face.

Can I use it while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Retinol isn't recommended while pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding. Check with your physician, and ask us about retinol-free options for that season.

How should I start using it?

Use it in the evening only: cleanse, apply a pea-sized amount, then follow with moisturizer. Start twice a week, then move to every other night and then nightly as tolerated. Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning.
