Octinoxate's Role in a Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen
Octinoxate, written on some labels as ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, is an organic UV filter that absorbs primarily in the UVB range. It is rarely used alone; formulators combine it with UVA filters or with zinc oxide to reach broad-spectrum coverage, and its lightweight, non-greasy feel is why it appears so often in sunscreens meant to be worn under makeup.
