How to Use

Step 1: In the morning, cleanse and tone skin.
Step 2: Apply 5 to 7 drops of serum evenly to the face.
Step 3: Follow with your moisturizer.
Step 4: Finish with a broad-spectrum sunscreen before applying makeup.
Step 5: Use within 3 to 6 months of opening. Store below 77°F (25°C), out of direct sunlight, with the cap tightly closed.

Caution: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth and lips. Slight tingling may occur and should lessen with continued use. If tingling becomes severe, discontinue use and consult a doctor.

How is the 20% different from Professional-C Serum 10% and 15%?

All three are Obagi's L-ascorbic acid serums at different strengths. The 10% is the gentlest starting point, the 15% is the middle step, and the 20% is the most concentrated, made for normal to oily skin that already tolerates vitamin C. If you're new to vitamin C or have sensitive or dry skin, start lower and work up.

Is tingling normal?

Some people feel slight tingling at first, and Obagi says it should lessen with continued use. If tingling becomes severe, stop using it and talk to your provider. Avoid the eyes, nose, mouth and lips.

Can I use it with retinol or exfoliating acids?

Yes, in the same routine but not the same application. Use Professional-C in the morning and save retinol, retinoids and strong exfoliating acids for the evening. That keeps irritation down and lets each active do its job.

Do I still need sunscreen?

Yes. Vitamin C adds antioxidant defense, but it is not a sunscreen. Obagi recommends applying a broad-spectrum SPF every morning after the serum, before makeup.

How long does a bottle last, and how should I store it?

At 5 to 7 drops each morning, a 1 fl oz bottle lasts about two to three months. Obagi recommends using it within 3 to 6 months of opening and storing it below 77°F (25°C), out of direct sunlight, with the cap tightly closed, because vitamin C breaks down with heat, light and air.
