How to Use

Step 1: Cleanse with Obagi Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser or Foaming Gel.
Step 2: Sweep on Nu-Derm Toner and let it dry.
Step 3: Each morning, apply a thin, even layer of Exfoderm over the face and neck.
Step 4: Follow with your treatment products, then a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher.

Caution: For external use only. Avoid the eye area; if product gets into the eyes, rinse with water right away. Exfoliating acids increase sun sensitivity — wear daily sunscreen and limit sun exposure. Keep out of reach of children. Store out of direct sunlight at controlled room temperature, 15–25°C (59–77°F).

What's the difference between Exfoderm and Exfoderm Forte?

Exfoderm uses phytic acid and is formulated for normal to dry, combination, and sensitive skin. Exfoderm Forte uses glycolic and lactic acids and is the stronger option built for normal to oily skin. If your skin runs dry or reacts easily, this is the one you want.

Where does this go in my routine?

Morning only. Cleanse, tone, then apply a thin layer of Exfoderm to the face and neck. Follow with your treatment products and finish with a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Within the Obagi Nu-Derm System it is Step 4 of the AM routine.

Can I use it alongside a retinoid or tretinoin?

Yes, and that pairing is how the Nu-Derm System is designed to run: Exfoderm in the morning, retinoid at night. Introduce them one at a time and back off the frequency if skin gets tight or flaky. Check with your provider if you are on prescription-strength tretinoin.

Will it sting or make me peel?

Most people feel nothing at all — phytic acid is notably gentler than glycolic or lactic acid. Some mild dryness in the first week or two is normal as turnover speeds up. Persistent burning or irritation means you should stop and check in with your provider.

How soon will I see a difference, and how long does a bottle last?

Smoother texture usually shows up in two to three weeks, with brightness and tone continuing to improve over six to twelve weeks. Used once daily on the face and neck, the 2 oz bottle typically lasts about two to three months.
