How to Use

Step 1: Use in the evening only. Cleanse skin and pat dry.
Step 2: If you use a brightening serum such as Even & Correct Advanced Brightening Treatment, apply it first.
Step 3: Apply a small amount of Dark Spot Cream directly to stubborn dark spots, nightly or as tolerated.
Step 4: Follow with moisturizer. Continue nightly until dark spots fade.
Step 5: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning.

Caution: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and the possibility of sunburn. Use sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterward. Do not use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to become pregnant. For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

How is it different from Even & Correct Advanced Brightening Treatment?

Even & Correct Advanced is a daily serum for overall tone that you apply to the whole face. Dark Spot Cream is a concentrated evening booster that you apply only to stubborn spots. It adds glycolic acid and 0.25% retinol, so it's the stronger, targeted step. Many clients use both: the serum all over, then the spot cream on the spots that need extra help.

Can I use it while pregnant or breastfeeding?

No. SkinMedica advises not using it if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to become pregnant, because it contains retinol. Ask your provider about pregnancy-safe brightening options.

Do I need sunscreen while using it?

Yes. It contains glycolic acid, an AHA that can increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun. Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen every day and limit sun exposure while using it and for a week after you stop. Daily SPF also keeps new spots from forming.

Can I use it with my other retinol or exfoliants?

Go slowly. Because it already contains retinol and glycolic acid, layering it over another retinoid or strong exfoliant on the same spots can cause dryness or irritation. Start every other night if your skin is sensitive, and ask your provider how to fit it around prescription treatments.

How soon will I see results?
