How to Use

Step 1: Cleanse the skin thoroughly, ideally with the Pore Purifying Gel Cleanser, and pat dry.
Step 2: Dispense a small amount onto your fingertips.
Step 3: Cover the entire affected area with a thin layer and gently massage in.
Step 4: Start with one application daily, then increase to two times daily if needed or as directed by a doctor.
Step 5: If bothersome dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day. Follow with moisturizer and, in the morning, sunscreen.

Caution: For external use only. Skin irritation and dryness are more likely if you use another topical acne medication at the same time; if irritation occurs, only use one topical acne medication at a time. When starting, apply sparingly to one or two small affected areas for the first 3 days and continue only if no discomfort occurs. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

Is this the same as Acne Clarifying Treatment?

Pore Purifying Acne Treatment is the new name for SkinMedica's Acne Clarifying Treatment, now in a 1.7 fl oz pump bottle. It has the same active ingredient, encapsulated 2% salicylic acid, with niacinamide and bakuchiol. If you loved Acne Clarifying Treatment, this is the one to reorder.

Will it dry out my skin?

The salicylic acid is encapsulated so it releases over time, which SkinMedica designed to treat breakouts without drying out the skin. Any salicylic acid can still cause dryness, so start with one application a day, increase to twice a day if needed, and cut back to once a day or every other day if dryness or peeling becomes bothersome.

Can I use it with other acne products or retinol?

The Drug Facts label warns that skin irritation and dryness are more likely if you use another topical acne medication at the same time. If irritation occurs, use only one topical acne medication at a time. If you use a prescription retinoid or acne medication, or are pregnant or nursing, ask your physician before adding it.
