Lecithin on its own oxidizes readily, so manufacturers hydrogenate it — saturating the fatty acid chains — to produce a far more stable material. The result emulsifies oil and water, forms liposomes around sensitive actives, and leaves a soft finish behind. It is a workhorse in any formula where something fragile needs protecting.

Is hydrogenated lecithin a problem if I avoid soy?
Dietary soy allergy and topical tolerance are separate questions, and the protein fraction that triggers food allergy is largely absent from cosmetic-grade lecithin. If you have reacted to soy topically before, patch test and talk to us before committing to a full size.
