The Hydrator is a hydrating treatment that goes on first to deliver intense, plumping hydration. Water Burst is the moisturizer that goes on top to lock that hydration in, with an added prebiotic Microbiome Barrier Complex to reduce moisture loss. SkinMedica designed them to be used together, Hydrator first, then Water Burst, but Water Burst also works on its own as a lightweight daily moisturizer.

Is it OK for acne-prone or sensitive skin?

Yes. SkinMedica states it's safe for acne-prone and sensitive skin, and the ingredient list has no added fragrance. It does contain lightweight emollients like caprylic/capric triglyceride and squalane, so if your skin is very breakout-prone, introduce it on its own for a couple of weeks before changing anything else.
