EltaMD UV Restore Tinted Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 is the tinted version of EltaMD's 100% mineral sunscreen for sun-damaged skin. Iron oxides give a sheer, universal tint that evens out the look of discoloration on contact, while 15% zinc oxide and 2% titanium dioxide handle broad-spectrum protection.

Ginger root extract, saccharide isomerate, and vitamins C and E work underneath to improve smoothness and soften the appearance of dark spots and fine lines over time, with added defense against infrared and high-energy visible light.

How to use

How to Use

Step 1: Complete your morning routine, letting serums and moisturizer absorb fully.
Step 2: Apply UV Restore Tinted liberally to the face and neck 15 minutes before sun exposure. Use roughly a nickel-sized amount for the face alone and blend evenly.
Step 3: Reapply at least every 2 hours, and more often with extended time outdoors.
Step 4: Switch to a water-resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating.

Sun protection measures: spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with a broad spectrum SPF of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures, including limiting time in the sun between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and wearing long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats and sunglasses. For external use only. Do not use on damaged or broken skin. Stop use and ask a doctor if rash occurs. Keep out of reach of children.

Will the tint match my skin tone?

It is a single sheer universal tint rather than a shade range, designed to adjust to most skin tones. On very fair or very deep skin it reads as a light wash of color rather than true coverage. If you want protection with no color at all, choose the untinted UV Restore instead.

Why does a tinted sunscreen matter for melasma?

Standard sunscreens filter UV but not high-energy visible light, which can aggravate the look of melasma and stubborn pigment. The iron oxides that create the tint also add visible light defense, which is why a tinted mineral sunscreen is so often the recommendation when discoloration is the primary concern.

Can I wear it instead of foundation?

Many people do. The tint evens the look of tone enough to carry a no-makeup day on its own, and it also sits smoothly under foundation if you want more coverage. Just remember that makeup layered on top does not extend your protection, so you still need to reapply sunscreen every two hours.
